The Global Jain app (the "Service") is a religious social-networking platform for the Jain community, operated by Nirved ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, when it is shared, and the choices and rights you have. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
We use your personal information only to provide, secure and improve the Global Jain religious-social-networking service (connecting the Jain community – Sant, Sangh and Shravak – and features such as Vihaar, Chaturmas and Jain Health Care). We do not use it for any unrelated purpose. The terms used here have the same meanings as in our Terms & Conditions unless otherwise defined.
Information We Collect
Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect:
- Account & profile: your name, mobile number, email, username, Dharm and Jati, date of birth, gender, and profile photo. Each of these has a privacy setting (Public, Friends, or Only me) that you control.
- Location: your current place and native place – the city you enter, and/or an approximate location from your device (latitude/longitude) if you choose "Use current location". See "Location & the Community Map" below.
- Optional details: work and education information you add to your profile.
- Device & technical data: a push-notification token, and log data such as your IP address, device name and operating system (collected only to run the app and diagnose errors).
- Jain Health Care (JHC) data: if you use JHC, we collect the beneficiary’s full name, address, email, the medical need, and your Aadhaar number – for yourself or for a nominated person – as described in the "Aadhaar" section below.
Location & the Community Map
We use your location to help you discover nearby Sants, Sanghs, fellow Shravaks, Vihaar and Chaturmas, and to place community entities on maps. Please note: your city and an approximate map location are visible to other members of the Jain community on features such as "Shravaks near me / Shravaks on map". You provide your location only when you choose to – by enabling device location or by saving a place – and you are in control of it:
- You can change or remove your saved location at any time from the Edit Location screen.
- You can hide yourself from the community map at any time from Menu → Settings – other members will no longer see your location.
How We Use Your Data
We use the information above solely to: create and secure your account; connect you with the Jain community and show you relevant Sants, Sanghs, Shravaks, Vihaar and Chaturmas; operate Jain Health Care; personalise your experience; send you service notifications; and maintain, protect and improve the Service. We do not use your data for any purpose unrelated to the Service.
We Do Not Sell Your Data
We never sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we never share it with any third party for advertising or marketing. Your information is shared only in these limited ways:
- With other members, as part of the social features you use – the profile fields you have made visible (per your privacy settings) and your approximate map location (unless you have hidden it).
- With service providers who help us run the app under confidentiality obligations: our hosting provider; Google Maps / Google Places (for maps and address look-up); Firebase (for one-time-password sign-in only); and the "Jaina" AI assistant, which receives only your typed questions and the name of the screen you are on – it never receives your name, mobile number, email or Aadhaar.
- With JHC partner hospitals, your Aadhaar and benefit details, only with your consent, to provide the Jain Health Care discount (see the Aadhaar section).
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users and the Service.
Third-Party Services
The Service relies on the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Google Play Services
- Google Maps & Google Places (maps and address look-up)
- Firebase (phone-number sign-in only – we do not use Firebase analytics)
- Anthropic (powers the "Jaina" assistant; receives no personal identifiers)
Log Data
Whenever you use the Service, in the case of an error we may collect log data such as your device IP address, device name, operating system version, app configuration, and the date/time of use, to diagnose and fix problems.
Cookies
The mobile app does not use cookies itself. The web version and some third-party libraries may use cookies (small identifier files) to operate the service. You can accept or refuse cookies in your browser; refusing some may limit certain features.
Security
We value your trust and use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, including access controls and encryption in transit. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention & Deletion
We keep your personal information only for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete your account at any time from Menu → Settings → Delete account, which removes your profile and associated personal data from the Service, except where we are required to retain certain information by law (for example, Aadhaar records as described below).
Links to Other Sites
The Service may contain links to sites we do not operate. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their policies.
Children’s Privacy
The Service is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A person under 18 may use the Service only with the consent and under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian, in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child without appropriate consent, we will delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us information, please contact us.
The following terms govern the use of the Aadhaar number ("Aadhaar") in our mobile application. By using the JHC feature of our app, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.
Purpose of Aadhaar Usage
We collect your Aadhaar number for the purpose of the JainCare Discount (JCD) scheme only, which aims to provide discounted healthcare facilities for registered users.
Consent
By providing your Aadhaar number through our app, you consent to its use for the specified purpose mentioned above.
Security Measures
We implement strict security measures to protect your Aadhaar number from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. This includes encryption, access controls, and regular security audits.
Storage and Retention
Your Aadhaar number will be stored securely for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected. We will delete or anonymize your Aadhaar number when it is no longer needed for the specified purpose.
Sharing with Third Parties
We may share your Aadhaar number with the registered hospitals within the Global Jain app only. As per the agreed template with the hospitals, we need to mention the Aadhaar number in the JCD certificate generated to avail discount within hospitals. This will be shared only as per the user’s consent to fulfill the mentioned purpose or as required by law.
User Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your Aadhaar number. For any requests regarding your Aadhaar data, please contact us at connect@GlobalJain.net
Compliance
We comply with the provisions of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016, and any other applicable laws or regulations governing the use of Aadhaar numbers.
Disclaimer
We are not liable for any misuse of Aadhaar numbers that occurs due to factors beyond our control, such as hacking or phishing attacks.
Your Rights & Choices
You can access and update your profile information, control the visibility of each profile field, add or remove your location, hide yourself from the community map, and delete your account – all from within the app. For any privacy request, contact us at the address below.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page, so please review it periodically. This policy is effective as of 2026-07-12.
